Our Mission At Millwood Church
What does it mean to be church in the 21st century? At Millwood Christian Church we believe it means loving the way Jesus loved and serving the way Jesus served. Jesus was once asked, ‘what is the greatest commandment of all?’ His answered likely changed the course of history and certainly changed many people’s notions of God. Jesus said the greatest commandment is to love. He said, “you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ The second is this, “you shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
Our mission at Millwood is to encourage people to live out the greatest commandment. Jesus also said, “by this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
At Millwood we observe communion every Sunday. Everyone is invited to join in communion. Jesus is the host, we are his guest.
At Millwood we are inclusive. As we like to say, “this church welcomes everyone.”
At Millwood God’s grace is sufficient.
At Millwood we are progressive. The call of the church is to minister to people in a changing world.
At Millwood questions are welcomed and followed by healthy dialogue. We don’t all have to believe all the same things to all join together in worship and fellowship.
At Millwood scripture is sacred. It is not always to be taken literally but is always to be taken seriously.
At Millwood we are not focused on who you were but on who you are becoming.
At Millwood service is essential. We are focused on serving locally and globally.
